I know that VW here is part of VW Latin America

I also know that our vehicles are more European spec than US. Examples. the 2.5 tdi and the v6 tdi are available here and not the US. We do not have the v10 as an option. we do have the little cabinet on top of the stereo and I think (not sure) that the ipod cable is standard for us.

For me the skid plates are more important that the rear diff. I have owned several 4wds with the rear locking option, I have never been in a situation that it was necessary to have.

anyways here is how I ordered the touareg finally.

silver leaf with pure beige cricket interior wood trim v6tdi automatic

all the exterior chrome including the mufflers
    air suspension with regular chassis
    xenon lights
    tinted glass
    compass
memory seats, with steering and mirrors
    full size spare wheel
    17 inch wheels
premium audio (dynaudio not available for us)

Do all touaregs come with the tpms now,
I did not see it in the option sheet.

I dropped the latte interior because I cannot find the accurate picture and the pure biege looks really classy.

we do not have speed limits. the major problem are bad roads, mainly patched up with potholes or completely unpaved rocky roads. We use the off road capabilities on a daily basis here sometimes just to avoid traffic. Driving to the beach or the the neighboring country, we have good roads that we can drive fast on. but the capital is very congested. I live at a top oF a mountain and the road repairs are basically done by us. The road is very steep and when wet you will not make it home without 3wd.

I was under the impression that the auto mode had a variable suspension that adjusted according to the road conditions.

So from the descriptions that I have given you of the roads, Is the air suspension better for me?

the hurricane was not that bad. We had a lot of wind and rain. The worse happened in the middle of the nights so many people did not even notice it. I feel bad for the grand cayman and Jamaica. They hade it worse than we did.

how does the air suspension work. I understand about the ride height, but what about the cdc part?

When in sport mode, its like having firm shocks, when in comfort mode, its like having soft shocks.

so when you are in auto mode, does it automatically change from very firm to very soft, or there are multi levels for it to choose from depending on the road? This is what I do not understand.

is it like black and white or does it have a grey area? do you feel an abrupt change between the changes or you just feel the ride quality is always good?

The reason that I am asking is because no dealers in my area have one for me to try.

Please if you can, many details are appreciated.

    Hi everyone:

I still have not received my touareg. They are saying that there was a short shipment on the transmissions for the v6 tdi. I think that I am here for November.

    anyways

Whats your opinion on the cdc air suspension? Is it worth the money? I am not really interested in being able to change the height of the touareg. its a fun/ safe feature that may save under the touareg.

What about ride quality on rough roads? I am more interested on if it makes a difference in ride quality. I want a very comfortable ride but not a bouncing vehicle.

    thanks

they were suppose to arive in march, then april, then june, now july so i don't even know if they will be here fpr sure for july. they said that the cars have been built and they have shipped, but missed the second boat in transit and is waiting for the next one.

this is why i am considering going to something else. And from the suvs that are being sold here, the only other option that I can think of is the ML.

I do not want mitsubishi, toyota, nissan or even Jeep. BMWs are not being sold here. I am just not happy with the Japaneses suvs.

    Thanks

    HI EVERYONE,
turns out that the new touaregs will not be here for another month or even more. :( I have been offered a similarly equiped mercedes ml 320 cdi for $6000.00 usd more than the touareg. Whats your opinion? if the ML worth the more money or do you think that touareg is a better SUV?

I am confused, I have never owned a VW before but I have owned mercedes before. Is this touareg as good as an ML? Is it as good as the w163 oldermodel ML?

    Thanks,

    Andy

Here is the thing, I ordered in Febuary- march

I had wanted pure biege, but it was not available, in White, So I asked for the latte because here its too hot for black, and I am tired of grey. However, It has been impossible to find a picture of the grey.

Here is what I ordered. campanelly white, latte cricket, VW premium audio, Dynaudio is not available for us, memory seat, full size spare, All the exterior trim, steel suspension oh and V6tdi.:top:

I think everything else is standard.

Its on the boat that all that I know. I hope to have it within month.

Personally, I like the color of the touareg interior from the konfiguator much more than the interior of the passat. I also like the chocolate brown even though its very dark. I finaly ordered the Macchiatto with exterior white, and vavona wood

I will be sure to post pictures when I receive the car.

    Thanks
    Everyone.

I am trying to attach pictures of the touareg and passat interiors from the konfigurator I am not sure if I am doing it correctly. Is that what "Dateien anhängen" is for?

    passat.jpg

Hope fully I got it right.

From those pictures you will see that the colors are not the same. So I am confused. There is also a white touareg review on you tube that the interior looks like a milk chocolate brown. So I am even more confused on which one is the color of the latte .
I cannot seem to access youtube for some reason now to post a link. I guess they are down. I will once that I can.

well here we only need light armoring cen IIIa br4 up to 44 magnum. Anything above that is overkill.

but I would love to see detailed pictures of an armored touareg interior and exterior. The G class galender is an amazing vehicle.

ok thanks everyone for your help.

However I feel that the color will be different from the passat. try doing a konfiguator for boot the passat and touareg using the latte interior, and they show up two completely different colors. the passat interior looks beige, and the touareg looks brown.

    thanks,
    Andy

    Enzio:

I agree, its just I was wondering, since we do not have the v6 tdi here yet, how to the compare to the petrol, and you guys have been a great help. If you listen to the dealer, he sais that you cannot tell the difference. I found it hard to beleive.

    oh

    I do not pull traliers.

Here is a list of my basic needs that must be part of the purchase. And this is why I am leaning towards the touareg or Ml.

1 very comfortable interior, memory seat, good stereo quality leather etc.
2 Low range. Is a must for me.
    3. fairly large vehicle b/c of wife and kids.
    4. something fun to drive, b/c tired of boring cars.
    5. somewhat economical.
    6. very low cabin noise.
    7. good amount of power for when its needed.
    8. something that if armored, will be able to handle the extra weight 280 - 350 kilo without a problem.
    9 a luxurious ride quality,

    Ok,

    diesel is 50% cheaper,

Road quality is not that great. We have lots of broken roads, pot holes. and many time the traffic is so bad that we end up going through gravel roads and muddy roads completely unpaved.

As far as dealer and service, Its not a great deal of a problem because they are reliable. Cost of service is another issue. I was also thinking of purchasing a vag-com and a bentley tech service dvd for the touareg, but the dvd does not cover the new model or the v6 tdi yet.

As far as the Jeep, they are I my opinion the Worse car your money can buy. The dealer is also really bad here.

    To understand correctly,

If gas and diesel prices were the same, then you would opt of the petrol version instead of the v6 tdi. If you were to explain the v6 tdi, how would you recomend it?

Where I live, there is a 50% difference between petrol prices and Diesel, and the v6 tdi, is very new. other than the touareg that is coming with a v6 tdi, the only other cars sold her with that size of an engine are the ml320cdi, jeep, and the landcruiser. all other turbo diesels are I4 intercooler.

I have read alto of reviews regarding the engine, and from what I gathered, the v6 tdi and the ml320cdi have the better ones. as far as milage is concerned, for my I do about 9000 miles per year and mostly up and down hill, so I also agree that the low end torque would be good for me. The only time that you would go fast is cross cuntry. When calculating the difference in price and consumption of petrol vs diesel, after 5 years its between 25 to 30 % the cost of the SUV.

I curently drive a Misubishi montero 3.2 Di-d and its excelent with a few flaws. My biggest one are cabin noise and engine noise. The motor is too loud in the cabin. As far as I am concerned. its not interesting. This is why I am leaning towardes the v6 tdi touareg. I hope I am making the right choice.

Thank you for your Objective opinions.
