Touareg Dead Pedals

Wie sieht es denn hier aus Leute, haben wir noch einige INteressenten? Falls nichts mehr kommt, werde ich bei Spockcat anfragen, ob wir einen Gruppenpreis bekommen können, und ob er nach D-Land liefert.

18 sind doch kein schlechtes Ergebnis. Jedenfalls lohnt sich die Frage. Schon mal besten Dank im Voraus. Schaun wir mal - ich bin gespannt.

Leute, es sieht nicht gut aus! Habe gerade die folgende Nachricht erhalten (Hannes wird sicher übersetzen, ansonsten bitte bei mir nachfragen):

Dietmar,

Of all the products I make, the dead pedal is the most difficult, labor
intensive and time consuming. I have to use 4 different hand, 2
electric tools and 3 hand tools to make a dead pedal. I usually make
them in groups of 4 or 5 because of the labor required. I couldn't make
18 at one time. It would be too much work all at one time.
Additionally, the pedal itself costs me almost $40 just to purchase. So
it isn't something I can offer any discount on.

I don't even think there would be a savings by shipping them all to
Europe in one carton and someone there sending them out individually. I
normally charge $20 each for shipping to Europe via Global Priority
Mail. I would guess that 18 pieces would weigh about 30 lbs. The UPS
charges for a 30 lb carton of $1500 value going to Munich is about $240
(or $13.33/pedal). Of course, once in Munich, I would guess that it
would cost at least $7 each to ship them. Thus there would still be no
savings.

There would be a $120 savings if this was shipped by Express Mail. But
the insurance on Express Mail is only $500. So if the carton was lost,
the loss would be $1000.

Any other ideas? Maybe I fly to Europe, find a shop where I can borrow
the tools. Buy the pedals I start with at a much lower local price.
Build them and then fly home?

Enntsprechend zu Spockcat (Jim), gibt es vieleicht eine möglichkeit das iregentwo in D-Land durzuziehen?

trotzdem besten Dank für deine Bemühungen. Hat spockcat eigentlich außer den bereits bekannten Fotos noch andere veröffentlicht, auf denen man erkennen kann, wie die Stützen angepasst werden? Ich denke schon, dass man das auch allein schafft. Wäre aber ganz gut, wenn man nicht erst 4-5 Probeexemplare verbraucht, bis man was Brauchbares hin bekommt (dann wäre nämlich der Versand aus den USA doch günstiger).

Könntest du noch mal wegen einer "Anleitung" nachfragen?

Hier ist ein Arbeitsablauf von Spockcat für die Peadlals (in Anbetracht des Aufwands und der Geräte die man haben muss, habe ich gerade eins bei Spockcat bestellt!):

How the dead pedal is made:
1) using a VW Beetle Turbo S dead pedal (VW P/N: 1C1 864 777), unpack and strip off backing plate, middle rubber piece and plastic protection cover. Set aside rubber piece and discard other pieces.
2) using template, trace outline on face of dead pedal metal piece.
3) cut dead pedal using plasma cutter.
4) use template on back of pedal for notcher cuts.
5) Use notcher in to make ~20 cuts according to template.
6) grind all cut edges.
7) bend inner lip of pedal so it will accept the new backing plate.
make 4 new bends in pedal using large and small brakes.
9) cut rubber material from step 1 to fit pedal.
10) cut new sheet metal backing plates and apply into pedals.
11) bend, fit, trim and lock new backing plate onto pedal.
12) test fit in Touareg and bubble wrap for stock/shipment.

Habe nun auch die Pedalplatten für Brems- und Gaspedal. Die Anbringung des Bremspedals war denkbar einfach (alte Gummiplatte entfernen ---> neue Kappe drauf) Jedoch habe ich Schwierigkeiten mit dem Gaspedal. So einfach draufschieben geht nicht.

Habe ersteinmal die oben liegende Gummivorrichtung vom Metallstück gelöst und danach es hoch geschoben. Danach kriege ich aber das Metallstüch nicht mehr rauf. Viellecht wäre es einfacher die Gaspedalvorichtung abzumontieren und danach die neue Pedalplatte draufzuschieben? Hat da jemand einen Tipp für mich? Ich habe zwar demnächtst einen Termin bei dem da ich die Bordbuchhalterung anbringen lasse. Würde mich aber freuen wenn ich es vorher selber schaffe.

Für Anregungen und Tipps wäre ich dankbar!

Ja, den Rat mit der Seife habe ich ja auch befolgt. Nur muss ich doch die neue Platte von unten hochschieben. geht ja nicht ohne weiteres weil die Höhe nicht reicht. Daher löse ich von der aufzubingenden Gaspedalplatte ersteinmal etwas vom Gummi um es krümmen zu können. Danach schiebe ich es hoch soweit alles prima. Nur kriege ich danach die Metallplatte im oberen Bereich wieder in seine Gummipassung

Hat sich bezüglich des Dead Pedals noch was ergeben? Hat jemand noch dieses Ding umgebaut?
Wenn ja, würde ich mich auch für so ein Teil begeistern!
